About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Friday 10th May 2024, 10am to 11:30am

We are repeating this event (originally hosted on the 18th April) to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to attend.

Are you a community group thinking about taking ownership of your local church? Are you already managing your church for the benefit of the community? This free online event is for you.

Heritage Trust Network and Historic Churches Scotland are joining forces to host the next event in this series for any group contemplating the future of their church building. At this event we will hear how future uses and financial models have been explored for three churches in Fife.

Deborah Kent, Project Officer at Fife Historic Buildings Trust will present on the recent study that was completed in 2023. Deborah will share the steps taken, community engagement activities that were carried out and the lessons learned from the study. This presentation will only be given live and no recording will be made – so be sure to attend on the day!

We hope to then hear from the community at St Monans Auld Kirk who took part in the study, to hear their experiences and recommendations to others.

Following this, we will have a Q&A session with the speakers followed by an informal discussion with attendees.

Heritage Trust Network is the UK membership body for not-for-profit organisations that are rescuing, restoring and managing historic buildings, structures and spaces. Our members have delivered successful heritage projects against all odds. We operate throughout the United Kingdom, drawing together and supporting the work of local heritage charities, community organisations and social enterprises.

We provide an invaluable platform for members for knowledge sharing, peer-to-peer support and skills development. Our guidance helps groups throughout the lifetime of their project, from startup to managing their restored site. Heritage Trust Network also gives this extraordinary grassroots movement a united voice, representing their views to government and funding bodies.
